Kicking It Off

We "kicked" off soccer season today... it was a hot Texas day filled with lots of kiddos in cute bright uniforms, gatorade, folding chairs & smiles! Instead of posting up another soccer slideshow I thought I'd just take a couple of clips from the games... Ry had a great game (on a bigger field this season) scoring a few goals and almost scoring more. They also got new uniforms this season. Lex ran her little legs off on the smaller field scoring SEVEN goals for her team! Way to go Flower Power and The Bobcats for winning both of your games!!

The video is kinda far back, but Ry is #14 & Lex is #3!

Well, while I was on here blogging, the kids came running in to tell me the good news - our cocoons hatched and we have two butterflies! The bad news is that one of the caterpillars didn't make it! So, I went out and snapped some shots of our new friends. I've been meaning to post a pic of the cocoon for two weeks and kept forgetting about them. The funny thing is that this time last year the kids caught the same kind of caterpillars (they are black spikey lookin' things) and they hatched for us then. Their wings are kinda funny though... if you'll notice they're still bent from being in the cocoon. We decided that we'd let them go on the tree where we did last year and then it started to sprinkle, so we dropped them back into our bug bucket. We're not sure if one of them is going to make it.

Here's the cocoon...

Here's the one that's okay, but his wing is bent. Ry's putting him on the tree...

Poor guy... he just might not make it...

***WARNING: The song will STICK in your head!***
