Superb Saturday

Today is full of great news! The festival went as planned - smoothly with no problems. I believe it raised a little over $17,000 - don't know exact figures b/c Lex & I had to finally go home b/c she was so tired last night & that was the figure when I left. Go ahead & start your prayers for when I am chair next year... b/c I have. I had intended on posting a pic of me & my co-chair that was taken by a little old lady & she joked & said that she might cut part of us out... well, it was no joke... half of me was literally cut out of the picture & we didn't have the heart to tell her. I was gonna post it for laughs, but it's not on my camera this morning anymore. I guessed I erased it intending on getting someone to take another one, but forgot... hmmm, imagine that... me forgetting something. :)

Also, as I was still asleep this morning at 8:30... (that is actually "sleeping in" - only b/c I put Lex in bed with me last night) I got a text from the boys. They drove to the deer lease (that is 5 hrs away) for "Youth Weekend" last night after coming to the Harvest Fest for an hour. The message said... "8 pt. dead"... then I get this picture to my phone a little later... Rylan got his first buck! BT said there was fist pumping, woo-hoo'ing, & lots of excitement in the air... mainly b/c the buck just dropped when he shot (sorry, for you Bambi lovers). I emailed the phone pic to myself to post - I'm sure there will be more when they come home tomorrow.

I know their time is special... especially since we are not promised tomorrow. BT's dad or "Poppy" was with them hunting this morning... and Ry was using a gun that he & I call "ours" b/c my dad gave it to us. He gave it under one condition... that we get it fixed b/c it was very dangerous. He had not shot it in YEARS b/c it had a recall. The gun would fire spontaneously sometimes when you take it off of safety. So, I took it & checked into it & sent it to Remington to get it "fixed". The recall actually was about to "expire" when I checked into it last year. Anyway, the gun is awesome now & just right for Ry. It's a Remington 700 BDL .243... and is now in perfect condition... especially for Ry.
